It's always a challenge to categorize and organize. First, I have tried to say several times I see the truth of the new millennium and the issuance of chips with a millennium theme to be two separate issues. Regardless of when the new millennium starts, we have chips claiming to commemorate the event. We are free to categorize those chips without relenting our beliefs as to the truth. I don't have to believe in Santa Clause to recognize a chip with a picture of Santa Clause as a Christmas chip. If it doesn't have the word "Christmas" but includes Christmas icons and was released during the season, I would still call it a Christmas chip. If others don't, I can't make them. If it was released in July, but clearly said "Christmas," how would you categorize it?
Let's go with the GO example. Collector A only collects GO chips that say GO. Collector B collects all chips known to be issued as a "limited edition," at the time of opening, especially with a date corresponding to the opening, even if the words "Grand Opening" are not included. Who's right? As for their personal collections, both are right. Each collects what they choose. But if someone publishes a definitive list of "Grand Opening" chips, and leaves off all chips not on Collector A's list, I just hope they don't call it the "official" list <g>.
I suggested when this first came up, that you identify all chips that don't say "millennium" on them, and list the "attribution." This way people may collect based on their own rules. I think it would make the list more useful to more people. But it's your list. You've done the work to put it together. You organize it by your rules. I just think more information is better than less. Other collectors will set their own standards, unless of course they don't know what they collect, and they're willing to let you tell them what to collect <g>!
