For the purpose of those who may be interested, I'm
posting Archie's 25 November 1997 letter responding
to Don Anthony, Robert Eisenstadt, myself and....
SUBJECT: 1998 AUCTION COMMISSION
To All Concerned Parties:
Please be advised that the CC>CC officers met last
weekend and have reviewed your objections re: 20%
convention auction sales.
The officers have agreed upon the following revised
conditions for our 1998 auction:
1....An absolute unreserved, unrestricted sale, with
no minimum bids.
2....No estimates to be published in the auction
catalog.
3....A 10% buyers fee will be in effect.
4....A 10% sellers fee will be in effect.
5....A maximum of three (3) lots per member
consigned.
Yes, Don, the club is doing extremely well with
auction profits as are the consignors. I would hope
that the membership is pleased with our
accomplisments.
The Board feels that after a five year track record
to be proud of, consignors should have confidence by
now that their desirable scarce to rare material
will realize fair market value when offered at an
unreserved auction sale of our caliber and past
reputation.
Sincerely,
Archie A. Black
