"I have yet to see any effort to educate sellers for the purpose of protecting them from their own lack of knowledge. When was the last time ANYONE here wrote to a seller to say, "Hey, that chip you're offering on eBay is worth WAY more than you're asking for it!"?"
Well how could a seller on ebay be asking to little for a chip on ebay? Sellers don't set a price on Ebay. They solicit offers. Even if the minimum bid is less than you might believe the chip is worth, the seller is expecting to receive bids above that level.
While a seller may be uninformed and not realize that he could ask for a higher price, you can't assume that a low minimum bid is a reflection of a sellers ignorance, it may be his faith in the auction process.
