Pete,

I agree that the initials are what make the chips interesting and they certainly should be reviewed in the event that they might be some illegals, etc.

But, I have heard from others that the aerosal brake cleaner (found at WalMart, Target, and such) will remove HSG from chips.

I have never personally tried it and I don't think any collector would suggest it on anything other than CONFIRMED "junk" chips.
