Recently I've put some coins up for auction. I may be off by one or two, but I count 46 auctions. 42 auctions were put up with a starting bid of $1. I used no shill bidding, no reserves, nothing. If the lot went for $1, so be it. Several of these $1 specials went for $20 - $40. One went for $60+ another $1 lot went for $97. I made money on most lots, and I lost money on some lots. I had fun. I think that's the way to run an auction.
