The difficulty in proofing the articles is that some (or most?) articles are delivered to Kregg in camera-ready format as a "hard copy" print -- ready for paste-up into the magazine, with Kregg only adding the page numbers at the bottom. (At least that's how I deliver my articles.)
To edit-out the typos, Kregg (or whoever is doing the edits) would need a diskette of the article, plus the appropriate software that created it, plus a copy of the font(s) and images used, in order to correct the typos. This would be a pretty big undertaking, in my opinion, and would require additional time to prepare for printing.
My suggestion for those submitting articles: Have someone else read your article before submitting it. Even careful self-editing can miss a type or grammar mistake, whereas a second pair of eyes can catch many potential mistakes.
