HOLLAND CASINOS COMMISSIONS CHIPCO CHIPS

Collectable casino chips from Euro-coin have been commissioned by Holland Casinos for a major marketing insentive which links contemporary art, opera and casinos. The campaign, which is to be rolled-out to a total of 9 Holland Casino properties, is one of the largest European projects to date involving collectable casino chips.

About 25,000 customised chips will be produced to include 4,500 chips packaged in presintation gift sets. The graphic designs for the chips have been taken from five original paintings by the well known contemporary Dutch artist C.Briels, which were purchased recently by Holland Casinos.

Each painting has as its subject a well known opera and features the name of the composer and a line from the libretto. Each painting has a "link with gambling" and have as their inspiration: Porgy and Bess (Gershwin), La Fanciulla (Puccini), La Traviata (Verdi), Pique Dame (Tchaikovski) and The Gambler (Prokofiev).

Wendy Talens of Holland Casinos said that this campaign will enable HC to test the European market for collectable casino chips and to see if the popularity of collecting chips in the United States will translate, in time, across Europe.
