I've given this some SERIOUS thought and decided to post my comments on something that occasionally occurs on this board that bothers me.
Rene is a grown man and certainly can "defend" himself - But as a CCGTCC member and ChipBoard lurker and contributor, I need to say speak out on this.
Call me old fashioned, but why is it that there always seems to be somebody who feels the need to leave an apparently bigoted followup to Rene's postings on this board in regard to his use of the English language? I for one don't think the mocking and intentionally mispelled words are funny.
I've only met Rene once (at the 1999 Convention) and have had a couple of (chip)business dealing with him. He has always been a gentleman.
Here's a newsflash for Rene's followup contributor!! English is Rene's SECOND language!!!
What's next, smart aleck followup remarks about cripples, obese, Italians, and bald contributors?
I have an idea... The next time you want to leave a posting on the board regarding Rene's use of the English language...
DO IT IN GERMAN!!!!
THEN, Rene can reply to YOUR post and make fun of YOUR less-than-perfect use of the German language.
The serious discussions, arguments, jokes about Brick Collecting #:^)) , sarcasm, and even the nitpicking on this Board are all part of what makes it great... But I think the comments about Rene's English are just plain mean spirited.
Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. My Mama taught me that making fun of someone because of the way they looked or talked was not nice, and it just kinda stuck with me - call me old fashioned.
Am I the only one?
