K, Jeton is nothing more than a
French/Germam/Flemish word for "token" which we
refer to as chips. In order to translate a more
clearer distinction between a European-style chip
with an American-style chip, we use the word "jeton"
for this purpose. The European-style chips that
some of us collect are simply laminated layers of
plastic made up of a base material; artwork
(graphics), and a protective film. The jetons are
not hard to collect if they are current, as are not
current American chips hard to collect. Finding the
older jetons from casinos long-past is another
story...typical of finding older American casino
chips except for the distance between us and Europe
and, historically, most European casinos were much
smaller than American mega-casinos and needed a much
smaller inventory to work with. Thus the
challenge....to some seekers. Unfortunately, several European casinos are switching over to American-style chips...with the exception of the lesser accepted ceramic-types which have come on the market in the last ten or so years.
