Larry,
Not sure when they started it, but eBay now requires a valid credit card to register to buy or sell.
Seems like it would be a MAJOR no-no to use a credit card (number) belonging to someone else to register on eBay.
IF someone opened a sham eBay account to try to discredit pete, they would have to use (someones) valid account info AND they would have to know pete's other personal contact info, i.e. full name, city, state, phone number. Pretty risky stuff just to "discredit" someone....
How would / did this person get pete's other info to open a sham account? To do this they COULD have requested it from eBay using the "find a member" link at the top of each eBay page... BUT, if a person does that, THEIR personal info is automatically sent to the person they are requesting the info on.... Therefore a person will know who and when their information is requested from eBay.
Seems like something that would be too easy to get busted for... and why bother anyway?
Besides, I just checked pete's eBay feedback area. As of about 11pm MST on 1-30, he is BACK in their good graces. (Guess it's their "second chance" policy) AND, no one has seen fit to leave any negative feedback regarding his alleged activities...
What does all if this say? I don't know!!
