I started offering my eBay lots this way mainly to eliminate any confusion about how much the winning bidder needs to send, and to attract more bidders. That doesn't always work! I had a winning bidder add $3.50 "for shipping and handling" on a lot where I specifically stated I would pay the postage! He didn't ask for priority mail, just added it, probably out of habit. I wrote a check for the $3.50 and sent it and the chip to him, insured as always.
