Andy, I have no problem with you or how you sell on eBay. As long as I offer my chips honestly, and act in a responsible manner towards my bidders, I would hope you have no problem with me. I do treat eBay strangers differently from chipboard friends and regular customers. I try to treat everybody in a friendly and fair manner. There's bound to be somebody who will think differently no matter what I do.
If an item is to be insured, SOMEBODY has to pay for it. For the stuff that's actually valuable, 1) I always insure and 2) there's usually enough profit to not worry about +/- $1.80, or insurance is included in the specified shipping costs. For a current $5 LE selling for $8.50, 1) it really doesn't make sense to worry about insurance and 2) I'm not going to throw away 85¢ on every chip. I charge fair shipping prices and I ALWAYS offer insurance. If the buyer pays for insurance, I take full responsibility. If the buyer declines insurance and the item is lost, well, I've never had that happen. I'll handle it on an individual basis if and when it comes up.
Back when I was a pinball mechanic, there was a sign at the parts counter at McKee Distributing that said, "Prices subject to customer's attitude." If you'd known the parts manager, you'd believe it.
