I have the fortunate situation of having a post office subcontractor in the same shopping center as my regular business. I just gotta walk across the parking lot to send USPS insured mail. I trained these folks early on that I wanted everything insured, stamped as so on the envelope, with the dated receipt in my hand.

As of the start of the last lot of chips that I listed on eBay, I quit charging the buyer any shipping charges, and will still insure every lot sold, out of my pocket.
