A friend of mine told me that he was wanting to sell his Nevada 10c chip collection. He sent me one that I was going to help him sell. He mentioned that it wasn't in TCR. At first glance I didn't notice anything strange about it, but while looking it up in TCR I noticed the description was almost exactly like another in the book.

I examined the chip closer and have found that the old denomination has been scraped off the chip and the "10" is actually two gold stickers. The photo shows both sides of the chip and a close-up of part of the affected area showing where the old denom was scraped off and the stickers. I've also noticed that someone has used a magic marker to paint some red inserts on the edge of the chip.

Does anyone have any info on this chip? Has anyone seen one before? Any idea behind the reason to do this? Perhaps it was done for a home game, a card room?
