What is this board, if not clutter, Paul? <g> Two reasons to answer here: 0) Someone else might learn from the answer. 1) Someone else might be spared the trouble of answering if I get it right, and 2) Someone can correct me if I get it wrong (never!).

I have the 4100c. I save my images as 150 dpi, jpg, but I get a dialog as I'm saving that says, "Image Quality." It defaults to High. I click once in the middle of the scale, to move it down one notch. I get great image quality at a third or quarter of the size of the highest quality. The next notch down reduces the quality significantly without much reduction in file size. If this is all gobbledygook, maybe you can get an update to your scanning software that has this option. A program called "HP PrecisionScan LT 1.00" came with my scanner.
