When I was looking at $5 varieties a year or so ago, these are the three types of inlays I found. There are differences in the background texture as Greg mentioned, as well as the texture of the tops of the letters (smooth vs cross-hatch) and the boldness of the script. You see this even on parts that still have the red anodize on them, so it's not just wear. Of course, the most obvious difference is the shape of the inlay at the edges.

TCR only accepted two varieties, but I still recognize three. It is quite possible you will find the same differences on the $25's.

You mentioned differences in the inserts, Larry. I assume you meant inlays?
