Let me pose a few questions I have about possible frauds.
First, the California Club has some $7 tokens with reeded and partially reeded edges. The reeded are by far the more expensive. Can a machine shop complete the reeding? Could anyone detect that alteration?
Second, Caesar's Tahoe has a $40 silver head token. Can someone take the more common gold head and polish off the gold which, after all, is electroplate.
Third, reverse question about the Harrah's gold tassel $40. Can someone add the gold electroplate (or even gold paint) to the tassels?
Finally, the MGM smooth head $10 lion. I am told the font is different, but it too seems like something which could be altered and easily passed off to the unsuspecting.
Gee, I guess its a good thing that all silver strike collectors and dealers are honest.
