... at the Brooklyn Navy Yard Hospital 11-18-45 while my Dad was overseas in the Japanese Occupation Force.
Stayed in Brooklyn exactly three days, but being born there has always provided me with a topic of conversation.
After several intermediate moves (including Ozone Park, San Diego, Bremerton WA, Alexandria Bay (Thousand Islands) and Levittown LI), my family moved to Lindenhurst on the south shore of Long Island in 1950. I managed to squeeze my entire school career into the Lindenhurst schools, though my family moved to California the year after I graduated from high school.
Went to Our Lady of Perpetual Help elementary school K-beginning of 4, then switched to the Edward W. Bauer Elementary School. Had Sister Caroline for Kindergarten, don't remember 1st or 2nd anymore; 3rd grade was Miss Plunkett (I also remember a little Italian girl with curly brown hair named Toni that made me feel weird for reasons I didn't understand until years later <g>); 4th in the public school was Mrs. Muriel Giese who read us Danny and the Dinosaur; 5th Miss Joan Franz who became Mrs. Sutherland over the summer after; and 6th Andrew Maceiko. ----- jim o\-S
