Travis,
Just noticed your picture with the horse statue and
it reminded me of a story where a woman who was a
horse breeder in Ocala, Florida (horse country),
wanted a similar statue in black Carrara marble at
the entrance to her ranch. She finally found the
right sculptor for the jop who suggested that she
personally visit Tuscany where this type of marble
is quarried to choose the stone herself. He
instructed her of the size stone he needed to meet
her wishes, and she was off to Italy in a few days.
Anyway, to make a long story short and to get to the
importannt part...she went to Italy; picked out the
marble, and got on a plane back to Florida. While
on the plane she noticed an English gentleman who
was sitting in the seat next to her looking at her
with the corner of his eye with a frown on his face.
She noticed that the man was expressing displeasure
or disapproval at evey move she made...right up to
the time dinner was being served. Suddenly, at the
moment the woman picked up her fork and knife, the
Englishman got up and looked down at her saying:
"you Americans do everything wrong! You drive on
the wrong side of the road; hold your fork in the
wrong hand, and you know damn well you're not
permitted to bring that dog you have under your coat
on board!" The woman didn't know what to do or say.
By this time the man was frantic. He picked up the
dog from under her coat and ran to the rear of the
plane. The woman was crying and concerned as to
what the man was about to do. About ten minutes
later he returned to his seat saying, "I took care
of that!" The woman got up out of her seat and
walked to the rear of the plane wondering what in
the world the man did with her dog. She looks out
the window of the plane and noticed resting and
imbedded in the body of the wing the brick the
contractor kicked.
