At last we have a chance to start a new hobby; for a buck you can get a brick from the soon to be demolished Mapes Hotel. Shame that the destroyers didn't come up with that idea before they blasted the Dunes, Landmark, Sands, Aladdin & others to oblivion. Will someone now come up with "commemorative" bricks for thoes clubs for sale on eBay? <g>
From a story of the continuing saga of the Mapes destruction:
"Patrick Clauss, president of Clauss Construction of San Diego, said his demolition crew preparing the Mapes for the implosion will not be finished with their work until two or three days before Jan. 30. He told reporters after Hardesty's decision Tuesday that he recovers salvageable material such as bricks, pipes and aluminum and bundles them up for sale. But he said he wants to do something for the people of Reno who feel an attachment to the building. "A dollar apiece pretty much covers the cost and is
cheap enough so someone can have a souvenir," he said."
