Welcome back to the bb Jimbo. Where the hell have you been?
Jim, I don't think too many chippers would have much of a problem with the "rare" description that you feel is deserved for the Fremont dime chip image you posted. I'm certain that you would agree that in all probability if that chip were to be put up on ebay for sale, the price realized would exceed the published catalog values you've quoted .... and most knowledgeable chippers know that and would compete vigorously to add it to their chip collections. The purpose of my original ebay post was directed at common relatively recent chips that every chipper in the world knows full well are common, but yet continue to be touted on ebay as "rare" or "scarce" by folks who should know better. The chip you've shown does not fall into that classification... and you know it ... so please; let's not confuse what is being discussed here. The term "rare" should be reserved for chips that are truly virtually unobtainable and seldom seen in the market place. When one does come up for sale, it would command premium prices well above most catalog values. "Rare" is not the plethora of $9.99 chips offered on ebay as such that don't even get an opening bid! Where's that fork Gene??? I'm done!
