... from a long time ago (1968 to be exact). I was a Navy Public Affairs Officer assigned to COMSEVENTHFLT DET C (another free chip to anyone who can translate that exactly!) in Saigon, Vietnam. One of my duties was to escort certain news media and entertainment people on trips to our ships off the coast of Vietnam.
Connie Francis made a visit to one of our carriers (sorry, don't remember which one now) and I was one of the Naval officers who escorted her group. At the time, I had a Kodak Instamatic camera (the kind with the old flashcube). While we were waiting for her to take the stage, I took a few pictures. At one point, the flashcube didn't turn properly -- she stepped over, reached up and adjusted it, then said, "try again".
She also autographed a photo card of herself for me (still have both the slides I was taking and the card). Classy lady the entire trip. ----- jim o\-S
