I have 3000 really old obsolete chips. I give Greg the first thousand. I offer Gene the second thousand. Now Gene, will you take only 1,999 of them or will you take all of the second thousand? I bet you will take chip number 2000. That will be the end of the second thousand. Chip #2001 will be the BEGINNING of the 3rd thousand. (Boy do I wish I had 3000 old obsolete chips.)
