I too am very saddened by the loss of Bob Mera. The first time I met Bob was in the Ocean One Mall on the A.C. Boardwalk where he was dressed in a tuxedo, operating out of a push cart in the middle of the promenade, dealing cards and giving gambling advice to passerby, and selling casino related items; including casino chips. As Bob's inventory increaded dramatically, he moved into a storefront location in the mall... and then moved to a larger store, calling it "The Gaming Emporium" where he sold all kinds of gambling paraphenelia. When Caesars announced that it was purchasing the pier, and had plans to convert the pier to another Caesars Forum, such as Las Vegas, Bob knew he couldn't afford to stay.... so he sold his business at the Ocean One Mall to his brother, Michael, and moved down the boardwalk, where most club members got to know him. Bob won the club's Top Recruiter Award for five years and was presented with several plaques that he displayed proudly in his store.... a testimony to his support and love for the Club. His 30-day and 60-day auctions became very popular and incited many a chipper to visit his store weekly to see what new items had been put up for sale. His infamous auction of chips over the $100 denomination a couple of years ago is legendary. Bob would take just about anything in trade in order to make a sale. His ingenious "Bob's Buck's" was a source of many a chipper's new aquisition. Bob was my prime source of information when any new chip was scheduled to be released in A.C. He was a frequent contributor to my A.C. Catalog whenever he found something new. We used to team up together to order fills from the cage for our new issues services.... many times loaning each other several hundreds of dollars when one of us was short. We have all lost a very dear generous friend ....... Rest in peace Bob.....
