I've stayed out of this debate, but I offer the following observations:

(a) we all know they don't put clocks in the casinos, so I say it's impossible for any confirmed chipoholic to know when the odometer turns over or the new Millennium starts, anyway. Casinos exist in a black hole-like timeless existence where probabilities and house-edges rule, not time.

(b) they DO know how to count in Vegas. Every time I get a total of 22+ at the blackjack tables, they take my money. Believe me, when it counts, they can count!
