Also points out one of the other quirks in the Christian calendar -- which is, why would it start with January 1st if Christ was actually born on December 25th (putting aside the arguments about whether or not that date is accurate).
The 1st year of the Christian era should have started on the day of Christ's birth and ended on his first birthday. Maybe if the calendar had been set up that way, everyone would find it easier to understand this millennium thing (though I still think most people would rather celebrate the turning over of the numbers than the actual event). ----- jim o\-S
