This was a serious mistake but it was not none through malice.
The casino mgr in 1995 thought it would be nice to let employees reserve some of the chips. He really had no knowledge of the hobby. Through miscommunication, the cage mgr released the reserved chips a couple days before they were supposed to be released.
Several chippers called and was told that there were 4,000 of them made, and not to worry, there were plenty left. The C/M went ahead and released the rest of the chips when he heard what was happening.
After this happened, the C/M turned the chip program over to me. I managed to make a few mistakes on my own. But that one never happened again.
BTW, this post is in defence of a great casino mgr and a friend. He also wound up a quasi chip collector. No one is perfect and mistakes will happen. He came to the convention at the Aladdin and apoligized to anyone that would listen.
