Of course I have no control over Nugget policy, but I've seen the way they operate. They have not issued an LE since '95. The put a bunch of the pig chips in the concrete when they built the new tower. I know some have come in, gone to the vault, and cannot be retrieved. I have tried and failed several times to buy any brass since they replaced them - mostly as an experiment to see if I could. I have every reason to believe the ONLY way you'll ever walk out of that casino with a brass chip now is to catch a cashier right after someone has redeemed a chip, and get them to sell it to you. Once they go back to the vault they don't come out. Once the redemption period is over they will be destroyed. That's what I believe. If the unaccounted for $500s are in the 20-30 ballpark, I'd be well advised to buy this puppy myself. Once the chips in the casino are destroyed, and the number unaccounted for can be verified, it could double in value. Or not. Seems I recall some sage advice about collecting vs. investing! <G>
