Most casinos will not disclose the number of silver strikes that have been made. Theoretically, they have the right to re-order a strike, but very often they will choose to change the design, distinguish a new issue by putting a new date on the strike, or have a different mint make the strike, thus creating a new issue which will require a new application for approval by the gaming commission.

Casinos prefer to have their slot machines played constantly; therefore, they do not favor silver strike machines because many collectors will leave the machine as soon as they have won their silver strike prize. When casinos choose to remove a strike machine, most do not put them back in. There are exceptions, however, such as Luxor, who not only brought their strike machines back, but they added 2 new designs in addition to their 4 old designs. But they added a 1999 designation, making 6 new strikes. Another example is Silver City. They removed their strike machines only to bring them back shortly before they closed on 10/31/99. However, their newest strikes had different designs.

A limited run will insure that those prices will remain high. The Riverboat only made 250 each of Sylvan Dell and Far West. Stateline only made 250 each of Goldenrod, Battery box, 2D, and the Race car. It is rumored that the Venetian only made 250 of their Grand Opening strike. The Golden Gate made 300 each of the Golden Gate Bridge and Trolly. 540 $40 Reno/Tahoe Airport, Strike It Rich Bowlers were made. Only 50 $40 Treasure Island strikes exist (500 were made, but for reasons only known to the casino, 450 were destroyed.)
