Wrong, Gene. I appear to be one of very few who can comprehend a basic concept about counting. I don't care what bunch of old coot chip collectors think, but it genuinely makes me sad when I read articles in the newspaper about school children burying time capsules and writing stories about "what the new millennium means to me." It means our children aren't being taught basic counting skills.

Measurement starts with zero, but the moment you start to measure any portion of anything, you aren't at zero any more. You aren't 0 years old for a whole year. You are a day old, a week old, a month old...

You weren't a year old until a year had passed. That year wasn't nothing. It was something. Year 1 of your life. Since when do you count 10 chips 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9?

Maybe children won't need math in the new millennium. It's not like we want to send a probe to Mars or anything!
