I disagree. This exercise in sophistry brings to mind the old saw “a little knowledge is a dangerous thing........”
A lot of interesting and useful things can be written about scarcity and rarity.
All I can say now --and I think most would agree-- is that:
(1) in EXTREME cases we all know what is rare and common;
(2) defining everything one sells as “rare,” including things currently on the tables, old but plentiful, becoming obsolete in the past few years -- and currently sold by many dealers for several dollars-- and being informed repeatedly of these misrepresentations by knowledgeable collectors -- is a serious abuse; and
(3) persons committing such abuses should be warned, suspended and finally expelled from the Club (if they are members) and put on some Hall of Shame list.
