For goodness sake people, this "rare" thread has really gone on long enough. We as chippers know what the word rare means. Just like we know what the word "is" is. And no matter how much this is discussed, the certain persons who are using the word rare in its unconventional method will keep on doing so, no matter what the dictionary definition is, the legal definition or any other interpretation is or even if it is right or not. So what's the sense.
Most of the people on this board are sensible enough to know what they are bidding on. It doesn't take the rocket scientist to know that if a chip with a starting bid of $8.00 or so, is a rare chip or not.
One last item. All of my new commemorative chips are "rare" as I only have one of each. This is an indisputable fact. <g>
