Re: Casino boat raid a high-stakes joke

"less sophisticated areas".

Jim, I resent your characterization of Broward County. In the area that I live in, we got indoor plumbing last year, our phones no longer have party lines, the streets are almost paved, and the hitching post was removed last week. We still do have rural mail boxes, but have been promised regular mail delivery on Saturday in the year 2,000! We have come a long way!<G>

Ken Jeene is a former attorney, who took over the post of sheriff when the previous office holder passed away. He is a grandstander who has higher aspirations. These raids appear to be politically motivated, with only civil charges filed so far. I just got back from the local gaming supply store & was told that the state's attorney is having difficulty making a case for any further actions. It appears that that one of the undercover agents on board a few of the boats was using a GPS that was bought at a K-Mart blue light special, & they can't find the directions on how the thing is used or calibrated. I kid you not! Any charges are likely to be dropped. Do you still think this is a "less sophisticated area"? I find the entire thing comical.<VBG>
