Brian asks; "Could anyone maybe provide me with a definition of Rare as far as our hobby goes?"
BriaN; I certainly don't set the standard for "our hobby"... the thousands of collectors and dealers do .... but the term "rare", in my own mind, is something that is seldom or "rarely" encountered, or "rarely" offered for sale or trade. "Rare" is NOT something that every chip dealer has a specimen or two in their inventory for sale. It is something special .... it is NOT the run-of-the-mill item that most main-stream collectors already have in their collections. "Rare" is NOT an obsolete item that is simply no longer available on the current gaming tables or from slot machines. To me, it is valuable .... NOT a $9.99 item offered on ebay. That's just MY opinion. Perhaps others may like to share with readers of this bb, their own definitions of what "rare" means to them. What do YOU think "rare" means?
