In my humble rare is just that, RARE, no matter whether a casino chip or a Hupmobile. For you younger chippers, thats an obsolete car. Websters definition of rare is:

Uncommon, scarce, precious, strange, infrequent or unique. Unusually difficult to acquire. Hope this helps.
