OK Guys, after the Holland America Millenium thread which exposed what appears to be a dealer vs. collector issue, I have a question.
What exactly makes a dealer a dealer or a collector a collector? I've got one of the largest internet chip sites and sell a fair number of chips. My chips are priced from $1 over face to $1,199 over face. I also do a lot of trading and whatever money I earn from my web site sales is used to purchase chips that I cannot trade for, for my own collection.
My own definition of a dealer is someone who could care less about having their own collection and merley sells chips to make a living. I am sure there are a few people out there like that, but the people I know who run tables at shows or who have Internet sites also have some of the best collections. I consider these people, as I consider myself, collectors who have found that sometimes they can make better collections by trading chips for cash and using that cash to trade for other chips.
Opinions?
