Wow! One second -- the best I have done is 3 seconds (also an occasional "too late"). One thing about late bids, once you decide what you are willing to pay & bid it, if you find out it isn't enough, there is not time for the testosterone (or adrenaline, or whatever) to kick in and cause you to raise you bid higher than you wanted to go. That has saved me money on occassion, when I have bough the same item later at a lower price.
