Just a comment on file sizes and screen resolution, Pete. You are right about the usual screen resolution of 75 pixels per inch. However, what happens when a scan of higher resolution is displayed on a 75 dpi screen is the pixels are spread out and the picture gets bigger. You do see more detail; it's not download time that is wasted. The detail you see on your screen is the same as I see on my screen (assuming we have the same size CRT's).
Achieving detail in a scan like that of the postcards does involve an investment in download time. I'll generally put just a link rather than a scan on a Chip Board note unless I think most of the readers would be interested in seeing the pic. Of course, anyone who gets bored, can always click on "Read Next Message".
