...when time is involved, it all begins at zero. Time starts (pick the moment that you read this), then it is past, or has been passed. Who picked the starting time for new millennium has gotten lost in history and was not a part of it until a couple years that approached it.
1999 becomes 2000 on Jan 1, 2000, no more 1900's. Looks new to me! Jan 1, 2001 looks like a year passed. ....is a year passed, not a start of anything.
The passage of time isn't comparable to any THING that you can put in front of someone to count (like a dozen eggs). It always starts at zero. Time distortion is yet another subject experienced in one form or another by most of us during our lives (the most common form being sleep), but conscious thought and mechanical devices tell us what real time did pass during that time.
My conclusion, not reach by being a lemming of any sort, Jan. 1, 2000 is not the beginning of the last year of the 1900's.
