No I didn't see Rooney. I'm glad. I don't want to know he's a millemmingum. There are those, including my dad, who insist that Rush is right. Maybe sometimes he is. Maybe sometimes he ain't. I'd make up my own mind if I could stand to listen to him. I can't. Life goes on.
I'm a free thinker. I don't let Rooney or Rush tell me what to think. I also don't take it personal if you have a difference of opinion. But here's the situation. We're in the sixth century, only we don't know it yet. We have no concept of zero, except it has something to do with the devil. Our King Gregory has this major fixation on Christ, to the point we're going to start marking time based on His birth.
But we're not interested in the first year of His life. Or we deliberately choose to number That year Zero. I don't think so, in either case.
What I think is, there's a lot of people who can't figure out how a year that starts with "20" can be in the same century as all them years that start with "19". And they're ready to party. And the ball is rolling. And reason isn't what they want to hear. And if Andy is one of them... well I'm disappointed. I thought he was smarter than that. Unless he was displaying a big dose of his cynicism and shuckin' ya'all. He's been known to do that!
The first year of the Gregorian calendar was year 1. The 2000th year of the Gregorian calendar will be the year 2000. It's not complicated. It's not mysterious. It's mathematics. Case closed.
Party hearty. Just don't believe.
