Hi John,
I looked at a DirectPC system about three years ago, balked at the pricing structure (about $60 a month up to a certain limit of megabytes downloaded, then extra charges per megabyte downloaded). At that time, the satellite feed for both DSS and DirectPC were off the same cluster of satellites, one dish could receive both the TV and PC feeds. For someone to tell you that there's a lag time for a satellite PC connection available would have to mean that the satellite providers are putting a whole flock of new birds in the sky to accommodate those with obstructed lines of sight to the current system (from here, about 38 degrees tilt, due south). Can you set up a DirectTV receiving dish at your new home? If so, DirectPC should also be available. Find out about DirectTV 1st, because the dish you buy for that use is only good for the TV feed, while the DirectPC dish can give you both services.
