The biggest downside with either Cable modem or DSL is if it is available in your area. In LV it should not be a problem. Where I live (in hillbilly heaven) the local cable company told me last week that where my new house is being built they may have modem service available in 2 years. The local phone company can't even tell me if my house is within the 3 mile limit of the substation. In fact they told me that DSL service was only available at the substations that had been upgraded and they did not know if the one by my house had been. They hoped to have them all done in 18 months! I have even tried DSS satelite. They say that they are also 18-24 months away. I guess it is 56K (normally connected at 33k)for me for a while. :-(
