I use DSL, which I'm quite pleased with. I've heard that a cable modem is like a party line. If no one else is on, it's faster than DSL. If everyone in the neighborhood is surfing the web at the same time it can slow way down. This may be more of an issue in the future than now since it's unlikely everyone on your block has a cable modem yet. Both DSL and cable are always-on and tons speedier than the typical 56 modem and I'm sure you'd greatly enjoy either.
