I just added several new chips at chipguide.com
Of special interest to riverboat collectors is a previously unknown example of a $5 from Diamond Lady in Bettendorf, IA with different color inserts than the normal chips have.
There has been some mystery in the past about 3 $2.50's from Diamond Lady that had different colored inserts. Then, last year, another of these $2.50's surfaced and is in the collection of Al Scalzo. At last year's convention, Gary Held found a previously unknown $1 chip with different colored inserts, and now, Duke Eyman has found a new $5 with different inserts.
Anyone have any ideas? I am quite certain that these chips were from the backup set. I suspect that perhaps they are being used in a casino training area and that might be why 3 have surfaced in the last year or so. But where? I think that maybe, just maybe they might be in the Detroit area, perhaps in a training school at one of the soon-to-open casinos, but that is just a guess.
Can anyone shed any light on these? Is anyone in a position to investigate any of my suspicions?
