Yes Gene, I was with the 79th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Sqd out of Guam.
I used to "Duck Butt" short range and fighter aircraft from Wake to the PI
acting as a relay station and airborne escort. Wake did have a civilian
civil engineering crew but the only club as such was a 20x30 wall less shack
with lights and a beer cooler. That was the famed "Drifters Reef". The island
more than once got swept clean by typhoons. Its highest elevation I beleive
was about 20 feet. I do know that if there was a game on the Island that I
would have found it......I have played since I was 11years old and haven't
quit yet and I am 65 now....Gil
