Archie,
I cannot find your letter. If you would like to present the ENTIRE letter here on Greg's board - I have no objection.
The bottom line of the Our Bar promotion was Janice O'Neal, Jim Steffner and his family and myself handled the promotion at the 1997 convention.
We raised over $5,000 for our local chapter that could have gone to the CC & GTCC to be used for CLUB PROMOTION at the national level instead it will be used for club promotion at the local level.
If I remember correctly you were worried about what the dealers would think. You have always been worried about the dealers and their reaction. I don't worry about them as much as I worry about the collector. You and I have disagreed about where the emphasis should be placed. An honest disagreement that has no right or wrong answer. I'm not anti dealer but I am pro collector. I guess this disagreement will always be.
In addition, I believe I was upset that more recognition should have been given to my chapter for putting such a promotion on. You felt recognition had been given. Again we disagreed - we have disagreed most of the time.
I have always felt that any suggestion has always been met with telling me how hard everyone works. Like I don't know that. Defensive statements making me feel like I don't appreciate the board and all those wonderful people who give of their time and effort. Heck, you can see right here with Michael Knapp's post that somehow there must be a lack of appreciation otherwise I wouldn't say anything. This is not right Archie - club members must feel like they can express themselves without guilt or being told to run for office as an answer to their suggestion.
Yes, I know I have been harsh on you. Did it ever occur to you that it is my defensive way of dealing with what I believe to be an unreceptive ear? I too can be civil. I want the club to grow and prosper just like you do. I'm not trying to take over your job. God, who would want it???? just a joke Archie.
Best, Jim
