I have been contacted by dealers when I came in 2nd on their auctions and been offered the item at my high bid. Generally I take them up on it unless I just got caught up in the heat of the battle and felt that I overbid on the item. On more than one occasion, the dealer posted positive feedback for me even though the transaction took place off eBay.
