Hi Chuck; No problem using IE, but the 5.0 version is free from AOL, so there is no disadvantage to making the upgrade. Reading the message boards is a lot quicker than the old version. I found also by using the new 5.0 version, that I can send photo's with my email, w/o a separate attachment, simply by right-clicking onto an image in a post and sending directly within the contents of the email message ... provided the recipient is also an AOL subscriber.
