I've never used AOL, Ron, but I can't see what would stop you from running any program you want once you are connected. It's possible you may have to "stop" the AOL program to do so, but I doubt it. I regularly bounce back and forth between my Netscape and my Microsoft browsers, and often have several running at the same time.

By the way, both of the 'name brand' browsers are free. You don't have to visit a software store to get them. Both makers provide free downloads (takes a LONG time) or will send you a CD for a small shipping charge.
