Andy,
I hear you and somewhat agree. Except for selling a "MEMBER" touting item to a non-member.
My personal opinion is, that I have NO problem with "A MEMBER or CHAPTER" using a club advertising design which leads people to more information about the club.
If the current board could come up with some sort of agreement with the members regarding the sort of advertising I've proposed, I think this situation could be resolved.
After all it is FREE advertising to the club. Even the newer Logo I've created below would be a nice advertisement. Or the club officials could come up with anything else they like. Mine is just a thought.
The club could make requirements on size and location of such logos, on T-Shirts. It could even be used on coffee mugs, key chains and as I like to refer to "ETCETERA".<G>
I do believe there should be more acceptance by the club to allow the use of the club logo in a FREE advertising situation by "CLUB MEMBERS AND CHAPTERS".
I don't know how I feel about the club requiring payment for this use. But do feel there should be requirements. What if the person selling these items doesn't remain a member, should they still be allowed to sell these items? There are probably more issues that I can't think of but others can.
I do think though that the club needs to do everything it can do to promote club membership, and this is just one more way the club can accomplish this.
Freeing up the club logo to members with the current flood of member business like cards that we see all over the internet these days, especially on the E-Bay auctions, is I am sure generating lots of inquiries about the club.
NOW, how many dealers would we see at the next convention selling this "ETCETERA" stuff and fewer chips and tokens?<G>
